Follow My Lead

I love the fact that God is so creative. He designed and created us, and the earth and everything we can touch and see, things we cannot see because they are too intricate for us to comprehend and things like the stars and galaxies and universes so vast that we only have a tiny glimpse of His magnificence. God is huge and glorious and yet He adores spending time with us, leading us and teaching us divine ways.
One of my all time favourite things to do is paint live, and partner with Holy Spirit to paint what is on God's heart. Listening to His sweet voice. I often think about the different ways that God speaks to us. Some people hear His voice audibly, some through a movie or a vibration or a sweet bird singing. Some through books or words spoken and some through science and mathematical equations and numbers. God is so multifaceted in the way He speaks. He has created us all so uniquely and tremendously and He speaks to us in unique ways that we understand. To me, it's a piece of music, or a gut feeling, or the whisper of the wind. A deep knowing or a vivid dream, or a vision/picture. Sometimes a sunset that screams, "I love you".
When I paint live, there's usually not a lot of time to think about doubting, or wondering if I have heard His voice. It's a real surrender of any of my own agenda, a listening, asking God what's on His heart, and then beginning. Time after time I am amazed at what He reveals simply by me stepping out and agreeing to boldly go where He leads. He blows me away when He visually speaks and oftentimes I know that it is not something I have painted in my own strength or by myself. It's a song, a message, straight from the Father's heart, written as we paint in unison.
I had the opportunity to paint live recently during a church prayer and worship night and it was such a delight. I hadn't painted live for about 10 years. What a joy to see that restored. The painting is now hanging in a new home, and I cannot wait to hear the testimony of how God uses it to heal and restore people who see it. I thought I'd share the painting with you, and the message God gave me along with it.
FOLLOW MY LEAD
Painted on Monday, June 2nd, 2025 at City On A Hill Church, Geelong.
As I began to paint this picture, I felt to start with a white canvas, representing the purity of the Spirit of God and the holiness of the moment. My prayer and my question is always, “God, what are we going to paint today?” and every time, as Holy Spirit leads, I am amazed at what comes onto the canvas.
The blue represents the atmosphere of Heaven invading earth, leading the way, bringing hope.
Yellow—the glory of God’s beautiful presence.
In the centre of the page, pink and red represent God’s beautiful heart & love for all humanity & His desire that all will be saved, know Him for who He really is and be reconciled.
The brown is the earth and the harvest fields
Red: the blood of Jesus poured out over the land of Australia and across all the nations. There are no exemptions.
Underneath the feet there is a patch of black—sin, defeated and trampled underfoot.
There are two feet coloured with a splash of purple and some purple at the top of the page, representing royalty and a reminder that the king is in the room. (The Lord of the harvest)
The smaller set of feet, dancing or resting on the king’s feet are anointed with gold the way I finished the painting—and a reminder that we are anointed, we are chosen, and our feet are firmly on the king’s. He leads, we follow.
I sensed a reminder to always have an eternal perspective and to remember that we may not be able to see ways forward but God sees and is providing Heavenly strategies and downloads that will blow our minds. In our human thoughts and minds we can feel so weak, so overwhelmed, so inadequate as if the things He is asking us to do are too difficult but it’s not true.
2 Corinthians 12:9 “… for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
We are standing on our Father’s feet, walking where He leads. Our hands in His, listening to the sound of His voice. In my weakness, Pappa, your strength and power and magnificence are even more obvious/spectacular. That’s the position I want to be in.
Learning to dance, learning to walk, learning the joy of dancing in sync with my Heavenly Father, my Pappa, following where His beautiful heart and voice and feet lead.
“In my weakness you are strong. I’m standing on my Father’s feet. Walking where He leads. His beautiful heart and the blood of Jesus pave the way. The Lord of the Harvest holds my hands, is always with me. He will never let me go and shows me exactly where to go.”
LET HIM LEAD
